Sep 8th 2013, 23:05, by Precious Igbonwelundu

The public has been urged to stay clear of the Owode shooting range from September 11 to September 13, following the Navy small arms' firing exercise.

The exercise, which will hold at the 192 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Owode, Ogun State, is aimed at testing the proficiency of the personnel of the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) in weapon handling during internal peace operations.

The command's Information Officer, Lt.- Commdr. Hamman Ahmed, said the exercise would also aid the selection of best marksmen and women to represent NAVTRAC at the NN small arms firing competition.

"Consequently, there will be movement of troops from the Naval Base, Apapa, Lagos to Owode in Ogun State. The public is urged not to panic on sighting movement during the period.

"Also, farmers, hunters as well as grazers are hereby advised to steer clear of the shooting range," he said.
