Anambra State Ministry of Sports has pledged regular training and re-training for its coaches to upgrade their knowledge in their sports.
Director of Sports (Operations), Chidiogo Mbanefo, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Onitsha that the development followed Governor Peter Obi's directives the coaches should be well- trained in order to bring out the best in their athletes.
The director said within the next six months, the coaches would have attended various re-fresher courses to up-date their knowledge in modern sporting rules and equipment.
He said, "We would send a large number of them to the Nigeria Institute of Sports.
"We have also directed the coaches to furnish the ministry with any latest course being organised by their federation or affiliate bodies.
"At present, the gymnastic coaches are undergoing a re-training course in Abuja, while our boxing coaches finished a course at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu last week."
