The factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kawu Baraje on Monday disclosed that the team is weighing its options as the crisis rocking the party refuse to abate.
The Baraje group, otherwise known as New PDP, said in communique issued at the end of its meeting, which held Sunday evening, that though it is not ready to succumb to the Bamanga Tukur as the National Chairman, it is however taking stocks of developments as the efforts to reconcile the factions seem to be dragging too far.
National Publicity Secretary of the New PDP, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, in a statement issued on Monday, also explained what transpired on Sunday night when police allegedly disrupted the meeting of the group scheduled to hold at the Sokoto State Governor's Lodge.
According to him, the choice of the Sokoto State Governor's Lodge for the meeting was a mere decoy to fool the security agencies, who might want to disrupt the meeting.
However, the mere attempt made by the police to prevent the group from holding its meeting was uncalled for.
The Baraje group also expressed its readiness to win over more members as it announced the setting up of a mobilisation committee as well as finance committee, with a view to strengthening the group the more.
"The meeting enlarged the Mobilisation/Contact Committee to include more Sitting Governors and Ex-Governors.
"The Committee was mandated to explore other options available to the party should the dialogue with President Jonathan fails to yield any positive result for its future political activity as the vision and mission of the party cannot be derailed by any force or group of people no matter the ploys and plots.
"The Committee is expected also to liaise with the new five other PDP Governors and other leaders that have indicated interest to join the group and to submit their report during the next meeting of the caucus that will hold in a week's time to ascertain how these distinguished new members would be received by the party.
