Golden Eaglets celebrating their victory in front of Chief Coach, Manu Garba
Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba, has allayed injury fears over striker Kelechi Iheanacho, assuring that the player would be fit for the FIFA U-17 World Cup quarter-final game against Uruguay on Saturday.
Iheanacho was replaced after scoring the team's second goal in the 4-1 win over Iran on Tuesday. But Garba has revealed that the substitution was made as a precautionary measure.
"Iheanacho's injury is not a serious one." Garba explained. "He will be examined, but we expect him to be ready for our next match."
Iheanacho, with five goals, is one goal behind the tournament's top scorer Boschilia of Brazil.
The coach has, however, praised the team, saying no team can stop it from winning the trophy.
With 18 goals in four matches, the team has an average of 4.5 goals per match and Manu says, "There are still many more goals to come."
"I said earlier that my attack is blistering. I still maintain that it would be difficult for any team to stop us from scoring because our team loves scoring goals," he added.
"We don't pretend, we are an attacking team though there are still few errors but we are going to correct them as we progress."
Manu said he has no reason to change his coaching style, adding that the best form of defence is to attack.
"I always want my team to attack and I would always improvise because this is a team where anybody can score," he noted.
Eaglets will play Uruguay on Saturday, with kick-off at 5.00pm Nigeria time.
