Latitude of leaders and rule of law
Oct 27th 2013, 23:39, by daily Editor

Glaringly, the FCT Administration recently had reason to seal up the Adamawa State Government Lodge in Maitama District of the Federal Capital City for the singular reason of abuse of Abuja Master Plan. This is predicated on the flouting of rules by our actual leaders, that are expected to show moral example meant to be emulated by the follower-ship. It is this disregard for established norms that has turned to the bane in our society. All Governors lodges in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, are enshrined in the Master Plan for residential purposes and not for political party office.

Flouting the master plan negates the essence of urban planning, and causing ineffable suffering to the residents dwelling in that particular area of the city.
The new PDP must be advised to go and renting a proper office. The FCT Administration is unwilling to rest on its oars until the entire 250 square kilometers of the Federal Capital City is purged of all illegal structures and/or illegal change of Land use.  The nPDP like the rebels they truly are, have continued to overheat the polity by whipping up ethnic, geographical and religious sentiments which is detrimental to the fundamental existence of this great country.

The Administration is assuring that all unwholesome actions by a person or group of individuals that are hell bent on inflicting discomfort on residents, wittingly or unwittingly will be met with a sanction that is proportionate to the level of wrong doing as perpetrated by an individual or group of individuals. The FCT Administration is meant to serve and protect the rights of all, as enshrined in the constitution. Following increasing cases of land infringement by developers and property owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Development Control Department of FCTA recently swung into action with a view of addressing the pestilence of illegal development and change of land use.

In the process several properties affected were issued notices. Also buildings that had expired notices without compliance were duly sealed off in keeping with the laid down rules for regulating physical development in the FCT. The exercise was conducted without any prejudice whatsoever to any person or group.
The FCT Administration in ensuring that Abuja Master Plan is strictly adhered to, conducted this singular task disregarding whose ox was gored and the status of the defaulters by applying the rules to the latter. Following inquiries from journalists, it became essential to elucidate that Adamawa Government House, Maitama; Abuja is one of the affected buildings. It was sealed off following its unlawful conversion for use as office rather than it's original for use as a residential facility. Other facility owners are hereby warned to desist from such illegal change of purpose as anyone that falls short of the law will be made to face its ire.
I believe it is right for me to say that Governor Nyako and other members of the recalcitrant G7 should immediately bury their heads in shame; no longer will impunity and disregard for constituted authority be tolerated.
