In line with stakeholders' efforts to reduce the housing deficit in the country, UACN Property Development Company Plc has completed the first phase of its residential estate, Cameron Green, which is located in Ikoyi, Lagos.
At the ground breaking ceremony of the estate, which sits on a land measuring about 11, 000 square metres in 2011, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Bosun Jeje, had challenged UPDC to provide housing for the lower income group in the society as well as partner with the state government.
During a media tour of the estate on Thursday, the Project Manager, Mr. Abdulkareem Mumeen, said the estate would redefine the way property development should be carried out taking into consideration climate change and the various efforts to mitigate its effects.
He said the second phase of the project, which will comprise blocks of flats, would be completed in June, adding that adequate measures had been put in place to make the estate environment friendly.
"Cameron Green, as the name suggests, is an environment friendly estate. It is filled with ample tree and lush vegetation in line with UPDC's environment sustainability with features such as retention of existing mature trees to preserve the original ecosystem; well-spaced buildings to allow free flow of air and prevent congestion; retention of existing mature trees to preserve the original ecosystem; drains with buried pipes to avoid erosion effect of open drainage; and 30 per cent built up area for maximisation of soft and hard landscaping," he said.
