The immediate Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali, on Friday in Abuja tacitly declared that his most trying moment was during the pension scam involving an Assistant Director in the Police Pension Office, Mr. John Yusuf, and chairman of the dissolved Pension Reforms Task Team, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Maina.

According to him, the scandals made him to be stronger and gingered him to work harder.

He stated this during the formal handing over to his successor, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, who warned that "henceforth, indolence in the civil service would be promptly dealt."

Sali said, "The atmosphere at the time I assumed duty was very turbulent as it coincided with the beginning of the pension scam saga. The general outcry that greeted the scam and the public reaction that followed the arraignment of some civil servants was literally earthshaking.

"However, with the support of all of you, we navigated the stormy waters of that time and succeeded in dousing the tension that had been generated by the scam."

In his speech, Goni urged all civil servants to refocus their minds "to the main rules, regulation and ethics of the civil service" asking them to deploy knowledge and experience to fast track processes for the tangible outcomes, to improve the quality of life of the citizenry.

He said that the rebuilding and transformation of the Federal Civil Service would remain a priority of his administration.
