THISDAY Newspaper's Foreign and Diplomatic Editor, Paul Ohia, was, on Tuesday, reportedly found dead in his official car, a white Kia Optima, along Marine Road, Apapa, Lagos.
According to an online report quoting eyewitnesses, Ohia had parked his car for several hours by the road side, which aroused the suspicion of passers-by, prompting them to move closer to check what was wrong.
The eyewitnesses said Ohia had reclined the driver's seat and lay on it as if asleep, until they opened the car doors to discover that he was lifeless.
The sympathisers, who reportedly noticed the THISDAY sticker on the windscreen of the car, called the newspaper office, informing them of the tragedy.
THISDAY staff and the police reportedly moved to the scene and removed Ohia's body to Lagoon Hospital in Apapa, where he was confirmed dead.
Although the hospital said an autopsy would determine the actual cause of death, the medical doctor on duty said the deceased might have died of cardiac arrest. Ohia is survived by a wife and two children.
