You can prosper the godly way –Pastor Samuel

Presiding minister of Global Grace Church, Pastor Samuel Daniel, gives recipe for godly prosperity. Excerpts:

Early Pentecostals used to regard riches' desire as a sin that must not be found in a true Christian. As time went on and more sophisticated understanding of the word began to be unveiled, prosperity teaching started gaining prominence in churches.

So much so that some men of God carried it to the extreme; many now believe that prosperity preaching in churches has been over emphasised to the detriment of sound doctrine. Today, we want to say that it is God's good pleasure that His children become prosperous.

It is also imperative to point out some biblical truth about godly prosperity. Your intention is to ensure that children of God do not miss out on acquisition of the goods of the land nor miss heaven while in pursuit of material wellbeing. Apostle Paul, speaking in 3rd John 2-3, is explicit on the mind of God concerning godly prosperity.

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoice greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in truth."

Speaking in the same vein, Ephesians 1:3 acknowledges God's prosperity plan for his children: "Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." And the book of 2Chorintians 8:9 explains further; "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich." The truth is; poverty is a curse.

We see this in the book of Proverbs 14:20. The poor is hated in his own neighbourhood. But the rich has many friends. Riches and affluence attract multitude of friends while poverty separates the dregs of the earth from their neighbours, even relations. Proverbs 19:7 captures this aptly: "The poor are shunned by all their relatives how much more do their friends avoid them! Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found."

It can be very frustrating when an able-body person cannot provide his basic needs. Many who have passed through this terrain in life understand very well what I am talking about.

The value side of life has actually made many children of God to become hopelessly senseless. But hear this. The curse of poverty was broken on the cross of Calvary, over 2000 years ago, when Christ said; "it is finished. That Adamic curse that brought thorns and thistles into our lives and daily struggles, had been broken.

Now we can sow and reap. This is part of the rest He promised us in Mathew 11:28. However, the gospel of prosperity will only be beneficial when it is mixed with faith and revelation.

In Hebrew 11:4, we see that by faith, Abel offered to God a sacrifice more acceptable than his brother, Cain, did. By that excellent sacrifice, Abel obtained witness that he was righteous. God himself testified to his gift. "By it, he, being dead yet speaketh," the scripture declares.

The Book of Romans 1:17 asserts, "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by faith." Faith in this context is revelation. The amount of revelation you have pertaining to a thing determines your increase in that given direction. Now, you need to gain relevant wisdom if you desire to prosper the godly way. As a believer, you cannot desire to prosper like the people of the world do; because blessing outside God comes with plenty of sorrow. But God maketh rich and adds no sorrow. Here are the basic prosperity principles you must apply and enjoy your financial freedom without sorrow:

Law of sowing and reaping

The book of Galatians, speaking in chapter 6, verses 6-10 says, "Let him that is thought in the word communicate unto him thast teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap; for he that soweth to his flesh shall of flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit rap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing form in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we love therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

Notice also that Ecclesiastics 11:1-6 spells out how one can unlock the well of supernatural riches just by developing the habit of giving. "Cast thy bread upon the waters, for thou shall find it after many days. Give a portion to seven and also to eight for thou knowest not what what evil shall be upon the earth. He that observeth the wing shall not sow; and he that regardeth the cloud shall not reap. The author of the book of Ecclesiastics insists: "In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not tine hand; for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that or whether they both shall be alike good. A brother, sowing into the life of people is one golden rule for prosperity. Cultivate a generous heart of giving to others and watch yourself step onto the high way for the prosperous.

The law of favour

The second golden rule for prosperity is expatiated in Matthew 7:12, "therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. Also Luke 6:38 says; "Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom for with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." The book of proverbs 3:9-10 underscores the essence for which men must seek to honour God with their substance or gifts. "Honour the Lord with thy substance and with thy first fruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barn be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. A new wine here could be rightly interpreted to be new idea that is capable of yielding more wealth. When you give remember to give what you need such as money, love, favour, joy, peace, happiness and so on.

Look at this scripture in Proverbs 11:24, "There is that scattered, and yet increaseth; and there is that witholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The truth is that you cannot be a giver and lack; unless you are a sin. (See proverbs 28:13 and 14: 34). All unrighteousness is sin, and one cannot prosper in sin so declares 1John 5:17. However, 1 ohn 1:9 points out the way out of the barrier posed by sin in the life of a believer. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness for a prayer of a sinner is an abomination before God. If you sin, bible says let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help I time of need. And to close this topic, if you want prosperity, you must in addition to the other prosperity nuggets endeavour not to sin and when you fall into sin, confess that you may obtain mercy and move with life. God bless you.
