The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned an 18-year-old driver before the Abule-Egba Magistrate's Court for allegedly stealing 14 cartons of toothpaste, valued at N150,000.
The accused, Akeem Sheu, who lives inside Oja-Oba Market at Abule- Egba, is facing two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that the offence was committed on June 8, 2013 at DHL warehouse, Awori, Abule-Egba.
"The accused and one other at large, jumped the DHL warehouse's fence, went to a bus parked inside the company and stole 14 cartons of toothpaste.
"The accused were caught by the security man on duty and the second accused escaped," she said.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till August 28, 2013 for mention.
