The Federal Capital Territory Administration on Wednesday said 69 lives were lost to fire in Abuja in 2012.
It, however, saved 239 lives were saved from fire in the nation's capital within the period.
The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who said this on Wednesday in Abuja, noted that the administration also saved property worth N3,176,700,000 from inferno during the period.
Reviewing the FCT Urban Affairs Department activities, Mohammed recalled that within the period, the fire service in the area received 486 fire calls as well as 103 rescue calls.
Commending fire service officials for an outstanding performance during the period, he assured the residents that the administration was willing to perform better in 2012.
The minister urged firefighters to surpass last year's achievements.
He said, "Our administration will work assiduously this year on capacity building of all the workers of the FCT administration for enhanced productivity and improved service delivery."
