Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ur-Deen in Ekiti State, Sheik Ameen Adebayo, has warned politicians against actions capable of disrupting the peace in the state.
The cleric said this at an inter-religious thanksgiving service for the New Year at the Government House Grounds.
He said residents of the state would only enjoy in an atmosphere of peace.
The cleric said the state could not afford another imposition of a state of emergency.
According to Adebayo, the state of emergency in 2006 seriously affected its development.
He warned politicians "who pretend to love the masses to desist from any act that can pitch the people against the government".
He urged them to support the Governor Kayode Fayemi administration.
Fayemi, who was represented at the thanksgiving by his wife, attributed the success of his administration so far to God and the support of the people of the state.
He promised that the government would not relent in its duties to protect the people from bad governance and oppression; adding that this was why his administration had committed itself to the welfare of the people.
He added that the state government was set to consolidate its achievements and empower the people.
