NBA to Jonathan: you're not running Nigeria well
Aug 21st 2013, 23:04, by Adebisi Onanuga

THE Chairman of the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Monday Ubani, has criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for his failure at ensuring good policies in running the affairs of the country.

He also berated states and local governments for committing the same administrative blunders as the Federal Government.

Addressing reporters yesterday at the Bar Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, on the state of the nation, Ubani noted that the three tiers of government are guilty of maladministration like the President.

He said: "They are all guilty. The people are not feeling the impact of governance at all levels, despite the huge allocations collected by the three tiers of government every month.

"We demand a reversal, for the sake of this country and for our generations unborn. The people have a role to play by understanding what is going on in the first place and demanding a change, like other countries are presently doing."

The NBA chairman noted that despite the state of emergency in some states and the huge spending by the governments, "insecurity, killings, violence, robbery, bombing and mass murder persist all over the country".

"It shows that we are not employing the right prescriptions to these intractable problems," Ubani said.

He urged the Federal Government to save Nigerians from embarrassment by honouring its agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) so that the university teachers could immediately end their strike.
