The Anambra State Commissioner for Budget and Economic planning, Professor (Mrs.) Stella Chinyere Okunna has assured sports fans that the state government is interested in laying tartan tracks at the newly rehabilitated Rojenny Stadium, Oba, to enable athletes in the state to train with the facility.
Okunna who doubles as the Chief of Staff at the Anambra State Government House revealed this at the just concluded Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) in Awka.
She said that the state government is interested in giving grassroots sports a boost and that is why Governor Peter Obi is keen at giving some of the dilapidated sports facilities a facelift.
"By this magnanimity, Governor Peter Obi has shown that he is interested in sports development in Anambra State and he will soon make funds available for the completion of laying the tartan tracks at the Rojenny Stadium," Okunna said.
