There has always been a slight controversy about Yvonne Okoro's nationality, her father is Nigerian, her mother is Ghanaian, while Yvonne has always asserted that above all else she is African.
The actress A natural performer from an early age, Okoro's screen debut came in 2002 with the movie
Sticking to the Promise followed by a cameo role in the series
Tentacles. But it wasn't until her supporting role in the feature film
Beyoncé that she hit the big-time.
And in recent years she has even been featured in a movie in France.


Awards On the list of Okoro's accomplishments she counts a Ghana Movie Award for Best Actress in 2010. She was nominated for an African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress In a Leading Role twice in a row in 2011 and 2012 for her movies
Pool Party and
Single Six as well as a Pan African Actress nomination in the Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2012.
She was also honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award in 2012 at Nigeria Excellence Awards.
