THE Delta State House of Assembly Wednesday in Asaba faulted the claim by the Delta State Direct Labour Agency (DLA) of the completion 20 roads and over 150 opened/graded roads across the state in 2012.
At a sitting for the purpose of the defence of the 2013 budget by members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation under the Chairmanship of Mr. Daniel Mayuku, the lawmakers remarked that some of the completed jobs at almost N800 million as indicated in the agency's detailed report were fictitious and non-existent.
They vehemently disagreed with the management team of DLA who appeared before the committee, tasking the agency members to painstakingly compile the list of completed projects so that the lawmakers can go verify them on Saturday.
The Director General of the Agency, Mr. Emmanuel Igbini, had stood up to give a detailed report of the projects completed by the agency last year but the member representing Aniocha South Constituency, Mrs. Ameachi Mrakpor, among other lawmakers countered the DLA boss, saying some of the projects as claimed to be executed in their constituencies were fictitious representation on paper.
Angered by the revelation, Mayuku suspended Saturday's sitting which was supposed to be the closing date of the budget defence so as to accompany the agency to inspect all the projects across the state.
He urged the management team of the agency to prepare the list of projects executed before the verification on Saturday.
