THE remains of Dr Olusola Saraki was brought to the Illofa home at about 6.05 pm on Wednesday and lowered into the grave at about 6.20pm. Chief Imam of Ilorin Alhaji Mohammed Bashir led the faithful in prayers for the deceased.
There was uncontrollable wailing on the street, as many recounted the many deeds they enjoyed from the departed elder statesman.
At the eid praying ground, the chief imam led the prayers at about 5.05pm. The eid arena was very crowded as many supporters struggled to catch a glimpse of the corpse. It took several minutes before it was brought out of the ambulance.
The corpse arrived Ilorin International airport in an Overland Airplane by 4.30pm. Earlier the Saraki family, led by the mother, Mrs Florence Saraki, Senators Bukola, Gbemisola and Olaolu had earlier arrived in a Rivers State aircraft.
Dignitaries who came to receive the corpse included Speaker House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, National Planning Minister, Samsudeen Usman who led the federal government delegation, Internal Affairs Minister, Comrade Abba Moro, Senator Andy Uba, former Gombe state governor Senator DanJuma Goje and the CBN Governor, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Others include former acting National chairman of PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, and his predecessor in office, Alhaji Aliru Bello Mohammes, Chief Jim Nwobodo and Dr. Wale Babalkin.
The list also include Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdulahi, Mr. Segun Agbaje, MD of GTB andd Alhaji Kola Abiola. All federal legislators from the state were also on ground.
