  | Heartbroken: Appearing on Brazilian television,    Miss de Souza broke into tears.  |

A jilted bride is suing her ex-fiance after he called off their wedding with just days to go. Brazilian Ilze de Souza, 29, was supposed to be marrying her boyfriend of eight years on September 24.

But three days before the ceremony she discovered her husband-to-be had got cold feet and fled, leaving her to pay all the costs.

Miss de Souza said she was shocked when she was told of the cancellation by the company that had been organising the reception buffet.
She told Brazil's Globo G1 website: 'They rang and told me he had cancelled everything. I thought it was a cruel joke. But I couldn't get hold of him, he had just vanished, so I had to confirm'.

'There was no explanation for what happened. The last thing I heard he had taken the rings to be polished so everything could be perfect on the day'. 'Then three days before the wedding he cancelled without speaking to me, or speaking to my family. It was so embarrassing, I had to tell all the guests not to come and assume all the costs of the cancellations'.
