The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has inaugurated a state-of-the-art learning centre.
The centre, which was inaugurated by the President and Chairman of Council, CIPM, Mr. Abiola Popoola, at the headquarters in Lagos last week, is valued at N17m.
A statement from the institute said CIPM used to have a traditional hall with obsolete tables and chairs used as training facility for seminars and formal meetings.
It added that the profile of the institute had outgrown the state of the hall, as its premium end users, which include members, non-members and corporate entities, found the hall outdated.
According to the institute, the idea of the new learning facility came from the strategic plan of 2010-2014, subsection 1, under: Financial Sustainability, which states that the third action was to create additional income generating sources for the institute.
This, it said, necessitated the categorisation of the learning centre as an additional income generating source.
The statement read in part, “This idea was to have just an aesthetically updated facility that will generate additional income. The CIPM learning centre provides the right ambience for learning with contemporary furniture that provides comfort and suitable sitting positions for information assimilation, having ensured all health and safety standards have been satisfactorily met with easy and direct access to emergency/fire exists.
“The general and inner lightnings provide effective visual clarity of presentations made on the projector; in addition to the filmed windows, which not only minimises the distraction from the sun rays, but affords the users the view to the outside environment where necessary.”
On the budget for the facility, the statement added, “A commercial contract and design was pre-agreed to run on a budget of N21m to upgrade the facility. However, a total of N17m has been expended so far to achieve the upgrade.”
