When Kim Kardashian plotted a move to Miami it seemed a given that she’d be settling into the exclusive South Beach area of the city.
After all, with its nightclubs, restaurants and boutiques SoBe is just the place for a pampered reality star to splurge her cash.
But the reality star and her sisters have instead been forced to find a home in the unfashionable area of North Beach, after residents blocked their application to move to South Beach.
When the sisters tried to rent beach homes on Sunset Islands, De Lido Islands and on North Beach Road, their efforts were blocked by neighbors, Radaronline.com is reporting.
A local rule meant the Kardashians needed to get signatures from neighbors living within 500 feet of the three homes they wished to lease with a 90 percent approval rate.
South Beach residents refused to bend to the sisters’s wishes, undoubtedly fearing their placid streets being overrun by television crews and photographers and turning into a virtual circus.
So, while they are filming their show in South Beach, Kim, Kourtney and Khloe have had to settle for a 51,000-square-foot property within a gated community in North Miami Beach, which is nearly 14 miles away from their filming locations.
‘The area is known for its hourly hotels, strip clubs and high crime rate,’ a source told Radaronline.com.
‘It's a far-cry from their usual posh digs, with just a 7-Eleven and an abandoned old bank close by.’
Luckily the news didn’t seem to have upset Kim, who was busy enjoying herself with a shopping trip on Saturday.
The girl who seemingly has everything went shopping for one thing she didn’t have: a motorbike.
Kim made a dash into a Miami dealership with her best friend and reality co-star Jonathan Cheban on Saturday.
She’s got the look! Kim was a show-stopper in flared black leather pants, white top and candy-apple red heel.
The reality star looked dressed to kill in black leather trousers, high-necked sleeveless white top and red heels, and her wrists were heavy with golden bangles.
Kim and Jonathan spent time trying on helmets and talking to salespeople.
Kim found a white Vespa she liked and even set her famous rear on the seat as a test.
Her friend, meanwhile, favored a black bike and took it out front to give it a little ride as Kim watched on.
Kim looked as if she needed some cheering up.
In fact, the bike-shopping spree may have been brought on by the recent Miami housing problem faced by her and her sisters.
