Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, MMWG has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to look for an outstanding aviation expert to hold the position of Aviation Minister.
In a press release signed by the coordinator of the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, he noted that just like health, works and finance have professionals handling their ministries, aviation is also an area of specialty therefore there is the need for a professional to handle it as well.
Observing that President Jonathan has always condemned corruption and affirmed that his government is fighting infractions on management and economic issues, MMWG tasked him to sanction all forms of extravagance in the ministry of aviation so as to demonstrate that there are no 'sacred cows' in his administration.
In a related event, MMWG also urged the Advisory Committee on National Conference to stop organizing sessions on Fridays so as not to hinder Muslims from going to perform the Jumat service. Making reference to the first session which held in Akure last Friday, he described it as a flagrant disregard to the Muslims' religious obligations – including Jumat Service which is compulsory for them between 12.30 & 3.00 pm on Fridays.
