In preparation for new Hijrah year
Oct 24th 2013, 23:00, by webmaster

Hijrah in the history of Islam is the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Madinah. Hijrah does not mean the process of leaving for a comfortable place to relax, but the process of transiting to a better environment which will enhance a continuous and productive inexorable effort. So, as Hijrah 1435 approaches, Muslim brothers and sisters share their plans for the new year with Aisha Titilayo.

Adegbuyi Qasim

This migration was a total transitional procession from the state of weakness where the Muslims were drastically persecuted to the state of strength where they were able to accomplish victory over the atrocities. So, my plans are not different from my present daily scheduling as a Muslim such as reading Qur'an, continuous dhikr (remembrance of Allah), making du'a, relating harmoniously with fellow Muslims and others.

Osho Bashirah

According to the Qur'an and Sunnah, a new Hijrah year isn't celebrated and thus there are no celebrations planned towards that day, but personally, I would really love to renew my intentions on all what I have been doing… Increase in my acts of Ibadah than I did last Hijrah year, and pick a major sin to ward off from and also Increase in supplications and Nawafils in Salat and fasting…. And I hope and pray Allah makes it easy for me and all of us.
As for my plans for the new Hijrah, I will ensure to be one of those people that will continue to reflect the beauty of Islam. I will put more effort in my spiritual life so as to ensure that my iman is increased in sha Allah. I'll memorize more verses of the Holy Qur'an, make my hijab longer and wear socks because a Muslimah is to cover every part of her body which is her nakedness. I will also want to complete half of my deen by doing my Nikaah and start to bear children; in sha Allah.

Mrs Akinola Tawakkalt Director, Abide Vocational Institute

My main plan is to improve on my Ibadah because recently, I know I have not been really doing well; I have been busy with my business. That taken, I also want to increase the number of lives I touch. I want to do more on impacting in impacting in the Nigerian youth.

Aminat Abubakar, Businesswoman

I want to work harder to be a better person; a better mother, a better wife and a better Muslim. I plan to perform this year's hajj with my husband in sha Allah, attend Arabic school to be able to speak Arabic and also read the Qur'an I its language. I also wish to help more poor people this new Hijrah.

My plans for the new Islamic year is to continue my lifestyle as expected of a Muslim. I want to be a good leader, someone who my younger ones and other people can learn from. I'll also be more prayerful, focused and determined to be able to achieve my future ambition.

I want to improve on my acts of worship, be more time conscious, adhere strictly to Allah's commandments so as to be close to my Lord.
