The Federal Government has said that it is still studying the report of the Steve Oronsaye-led Presidential Committee on the Restructuring and Rationalization of Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies.
The government dismissed the claim that that it is planning to merges some agencies It, however, described the claim as mere "widespread speculation and rumour".
In a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, the Federal Government said: "Government wishes to clarify that the Report of the Steve Oronsaye Committee as submitted is undergoing the process of consideration, after which Government's decisions on the Report will be gazzeted and made public.
"Members of the public are, therefore, advised to ignore and disregard the speculations and rumours being circulated and wait for the decisions of the Government on the Report".
