He was a guest and award recipient at the just concluded COSON Songs Awards in Lagos. Dressed in a sparkling suit, he looked hale and hearty. During the award ceremony, the 'guitar boy,' whose afro haircut remains the same, was announced as the winner of the 'Song of the 60s' award.
He walked up the podium, received his plaque, thanked the organisers and began to sing the track, Joromi. To the amazement of all, he danced and spun as of old. It was Frank Edoho, the compere, who reminded the audience that Uwaifo is over 72 years old.
