Nigerian politicians talk glibly about peace but actually prefer war. Can you blame them? Many of them have never fought a war as I did during the Nigerian Civil War. I was just a boy then fresh from secondary school. Of course, when our politicians talk about peace, they are referring to 'peace of the graveyard.'
It is sad that those who should strive to engender peace in the country are the ones encouraging lawlessness. Consequently, hoodlums, militants, cultists and others are gradually taking charge of things.
If this development continues, I guess we are in a dangerous mess because the Peoples Democratic Party and the National Assembly abhor a national dialogue.
Can I safely assume that President Goodluck Jonathan has the same mindset? Does he prefer anarchy to dialogue? I do not think so. However, one may ask why he has he been indifferent over the issue of dialogue? Luckily, the man no longer desires to grant 'amnesty' to the devil. In summarily, the reasons for politicians desiring war rather than peace are not far-fetched. Some of them are selfish, hypocritical, greedy and unpatriotic. It is important to examine their antics from time to time.
