Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola on Saturday urged youths in Nigeria to roll up their sleeves and take advantage of the opportunities in the skilled industry rather than waiting endlessly for white collar jobs.
Fashola was speaking to hundreds of youths at the 4th edition of the Lagos Ignite Enterprise and Employability project, a joint youth empowerment programme between the government and the Afterschool Graduate Development Centre (AGDC), headed by Ibukun Awosika.
He said there were viable areas and sectors with opportunities for youths to sell ideas in form of goods and services, stressing that Nigeria and Lagos present a ready market for innovations and solutions to problems.
The governor added that youths in Nigeria must be confident enough to take the plunge and delve into areas people tend to overlook.
He cited the case of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority(LAWMA) which has provided avenue for entrepreneurs to own trucks for refuse collection and smile home to the bank.
