The West African Insurance Companies' Association has elected Mr. Rotimi Edu as the new chairman of its brokers' forum.
According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Edu was elected at the annual conference of the West African regional body in Sierra Leone recently.
With the appointment of the new chairman, who is currently a governing board member of NCRIB, which prides itself as the largest insurance professional body in West Africa in terms of membership, insurance brokers will be able to synergise their efforts across the sub-region.
Speaking after his election, Edu said part of his mandate was to ensure that insurance brokers operating in the West Africa sub-region collaborated more effectively for business and professional advancement.
He stressed that the brokers' forum would work with other professionals in the sub-region to accelerate their contributions to global economic development.
In a congratulatory letter to Edu, the President, NCRIB, Mrs. Laide Osijo, said the election had opened a new vista for insurance brokers within the regional body and was a mark of confidence reposed in Nigerian insurance brokers.
She promised that the council would ensure that all support required by the new chairman and his team would be given for the benefit of the insurance industry in West Africa.
