As part of efforts to revive badminton in Nigeria, Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has promised to organise an age-grade tournament in the state and also complete the multi-purpose indoor sports hall in Ado Ekiti.

Fayemi, a badminton player, made this known when a delegation from the South West, led by the Vice President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, paid him a visit during the week.

Fayemi said there was need for the rebirth of badminton in the South West, adding that efforts were in place to organise an age-grade tournament in October as part of activities to celebrate his third year in office.

He also assured that work would be completed soon on the multi-purpose indoor sports hall currently undergoing construction in the state, to provide a conducive environment for badminton players.

The South West delegation, which also had former national champion, Samson Egbeyemi and Oby Solaja, presented badminton playing kits to the governor.
