Refer to them as metallic make-up and you are just right. When make-up is metallic, you stand out in a crowd. Metallic shades in hair and nails also add glamour to one's look.

According to idiva, metallic make-up combines rich high pigmented colour with intense shimmer. Your nails, eyes, lips and face get a lift with shades of gold, bronze, copper, white gold, purple, ink blue and frosted pink. However, the new trend in metallic make-up is a little brighter and blends a lot better. It isn't flashy either.

Eye shadow

If you are going for metallic eye shadow, play up your eyes with metallic tones and let everything else be kept minimal. Use nude colours for your skin and lips.

Lips

Do not match your metallic lip colour with the colour of your clothes!  Rather, get a lipstick with a base that will blend with your skin. Don't forget your lips' condition too.  Metallic shades tend to highlight every single crease and wrinkle in and near your lips.

Nails

Metallic shades in brown, copper, taupe, pink and grey are ideal for the nails.

For a day look

If you are just starting with metallic, replace your normal crease colour with a bronze that contains a bit of shimmer. Blend it well into the crease and you can get all the benefits of a shimmery eye without the attention. Rosy shadows are also a subtle way to introduce metallic into your everyday look. Apply lightly.

For a night look

Night-time is where most women go wrong with metallic and glitter.  According to fashionpost, glitter must be used sparingly, and with skill.

• Opt for more opaque metallic shadows. Since traditional glitter eyeliners will look forced, try silver or gold eye pencil on the lower lash line with a traditional black liner underneath the lashes.

• Stick to eye pencils and powders, instead of cream based products.

• Avoid putting layer of metallic make-up.  Apply just one. When applying colour to your eyes, try moving your brush towards the brow. This will cause the colour to slowly fade, giving you a more natural and complete look.

• Wrinkles around your eyes? Metallic eye shadows can call attention to them. Try applying a dot of the eye shadow in the centre of your lid instead.

• Don't wear foundation if you plan to use any metallic product. For instance, if you are going to wear a metallic blush, you should forgo the foundation and use concealer instead. Still bent on using foundation? Then, use sparingly. Blot your face before application.

• Do not to go overboard with your accessories. If make-up is shiny, you don't need as much jewellery or embellishments in your outfit.
