Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, will soon start programmes leading to the award of Higher National Diploma(HND) and Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD), the Rector, Capt. Chinyere Kalu, said on Tuesday.
Kalu said in Zaria, Kaduna State, that the college had sought accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the legitimate award of HND and possibly degree.
"In the same vein, the college has already put machinery in place to run PGD programmes. This is with a view to transforming the college in line with the vision of Mr President for the college to be able to compete favourably with its counterparts worldwide,” she said.
According to her, the college had been accredited by Trained-Air Plus and was affiliated to Embraer Riddle University, Brazil, and Emirate Aviation College, Dubai.
"We have signed an MOU with Arik Air for the training of pilots and other courses. This has led to increased capacity and improvement of training pilots and other courses, " she said.
The rector said that the college had successfully established its Minna campus and signed an MOU with the Niger Government for pilot students training.
She said the college had acquired B-737 aircraft for cabin crew training, Bell 206 Helicopter, ALSIM AL-X simulator, Gas turbine trainer and Aerodynamics (wind tunnel) trainer.
She said all the efforts were geared toward ensuring quality training and retraining of pilots from within and outside the country and ensuring excellence in other relevant courses. (NAN)
