WBA warn Hull over Odemwingie

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie will not be allowed to leave the club on the cheap, head coach Steve Clarke has said.

Clarke confirmed that the Baggies are looking to sell the 31-year-old Nigeria international, who is being linked with moves to Hull City and Queens Park Rangers – the club to which he tried to force a transfer in January.

It has also been reported that Crystal Palace will offer Odemwingie a move to Selhurst Park if they win the Championship play-off final against Watford. Palace manager Ian Holloway had attempted to persuade Odemwingie to join on loan for the final months of the season after his aborted move to QPR.

Head coach Clarke insists the finances will have to be right for any deal to be done, and Albion are still thought to be looking for around £4 million – the price they quoted QPR in January.

Clarke said, "He has signed a contract. I think his goal record for West Brom is something like one in three. Whoever wants him has to pay the market value. Is that the same as it was in January? Yes. We are not a charity."

Meanwhile, Clarke wants to maintain the Baggies' focus for Sunday's final game of the season at home to Manchester United – Sir Alex Ferguson's 1,500th and final match as United manager.

"We're not there for a party on Sunday," he said. "Our party will be with our supporters at the end of the game when the players get the chance to thank the fans and the fans get the chance to thank the players for the season."
