With the 2013 Africa Nations Cup staring today in South Africa, the hosts' high commission in Nigeria is yet to issue entry visa to Punch correspondent assigned to cover the competition.

After the required documents were submitted and payment made at the office of the agency that receives South African visa application, a short electronic message was received by our correspondent on his mobile phone on January 8, informing him that his application has been "dispatched to The South African High Commission, Lagos" for processing.

As at Friday, our correspondent was still awaiting his entry visa to cover the competition. When he visited the South African Deputy High Commission office at 24, Molade Okoya Thomas Street Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday, an official told him that  he would receive "a report on the visa application" on Tuesday, a day after the Super Eagles of Nigeria would have played their first match against Burkina Faso.
