ABUJA – Justice Mudashiru Onyangi of an Abuja High Court, yesterday, failed to appear in court to deliver judgment on the suit seeking to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from vying for presidency in 2015.

Though the court had on July 23, reserved judgment on the suit which was filed by an aggrieved member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Cyriacus Njoku, however, absence of the judge stalled the verdict, Thursday.

One of the court clerks who spoke to Vanguard disclosed that the judge directed them to ask counsel to all the parties in the matter to submit their phone numbers, saying he would personally communicate a new date to them.

Further investigation revealed that though the judgment was ready for delivery, however, the judge decided to defer its delivery owing to the sensitive nature of the case vis-à-vis the political tension it may likely engender.

A source at the court who spoke to Vanguard on grounds of anonymity, said the judge travelled outside the country since last week.
