KANO-MEMBERS of the House of Federal Representatives on oversight functions on roads in the North East and North West Wednesday, threatened to summon the Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen over the abandonment of the Kano Western bypass by its contractor.

The bypass said to have been abandoned for over a year by the contractor, Dantata and Sowoe drew the irk of the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Works, Hon Mohammed Ali Wuhid who immediately ordered that the  contractor goes back to site.

Wuhid who was so disappointed said”if this contractor does not move to site immediately, the minister will be summoned to explain why this job should remain in your hands. ”

The site engineer of the bypass, Engr Sanusi Dantata however, complained that “we left site because of poor budgetary allocations and insecurity in the state. ”

“Sir we even lost one of our expatriates to kidnappers who was eventually killed, sir all these factors contributed to why we left site. ”

Wuhid in his response to his excuses said, “you no longer have any excuse because the security situation has drastically improved and there is more funds released to your firm to perform. ”

Also, the North West Co-ordinator of FMW, Mr Mohammed told the site engineer that, “you heard the team leader you must return to site or face the consequences that will follow. “
