Kanye West has reportedly pulled out of attending the MTV Video Music Awards as his girlfriend Kim Kardashian isn't able to make the event.
The rapper was scheduled to attend the ceremony taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this evening [Sep 6], but sources say he has decided not to go as Kim is busy in New York attending fashion week events.
"Kim's in New York for her fragrance launch and Kanye didn't want to go to the VMAs if she couldn't be there", a source told the Mail Online.
The news may come as a surprise considering both Kanye and Kim filmed a promo advert with the award's host Kevin Hart in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. Kevin recently promised not to make any jokes about the controversial couple throughout the night.
"That's my guy, and he did a favour for me, so I can't really tease him right now", the comedian told ET Online.
"He definitely came through in a last minute crunch for me and poured out that commercial, which was funny and cool. So, no, Kanye is off-limits. I won't tease him. [He] and Kim are off the starting block. They're OK".
